Henry V Kaelber CPA CFP® CGMA

Henry V Kaelber is the Managing Member of our firm.  He resides in Charlottesville, Va and obtained his Certified Public Accountant license in Virginia.  Henry also earned the Certified Financial Planner® and the Chartered Global Management Accountant designations.  And he passed Level I of the Chartered Financial Analyst examination.

Henry graduated from Manhattan College in January of 1981.  With his Accounting degree in hand, , Henry began his career as a tax associate at a Madison Avenue CPA firm in New York City.  While there, he focused on state tax compliance by finishing up completed federal returns prepared by the managing partner.  He knew then that taxation held a special interest for him.  But he also became fascinated by the CPA firm’s clientele.  He observed that people who worked on Wall Street were compensated well.

A year later, Henry went to work for a Wall Street proxy firm as their Assistant Controller.  He also began to moonlight as a tax preparer. After a few years, Henry made the move to Wall Street.  Working for several small brokerage companies, he learned much about sales and brokerage operations.

Then, He got his big break…

In the summer of 1987, Henry was hired as a bond trading accountant with a major New York investment bank.  Earning several promotions, Henry rose to be an investment banker.  In that role, he was responsible for creating and overseeing more than a dozen investment funds in the firm’s asset management division.  During all this time, Henry maintained his modest tax practice.  At the investment bank, his colleagues would always ask, “why do you keep doing tax work?”  And Henry would always reply, “because, this is what I plan to do after Wall Street and into retirement!”

In 1996, Henry relocated his family to Central Virginia.  Two years later he was hired as the CFO and a Director of the University of Virginia Investment Management Company – the entity responsible for managing UVA’s endowment. In 2003, Henry left UVIMCO, began to focus on the tax and accounting practice he started in the early 1980’s.

Max Billmyer CPA

Max Billmyer is a Principal Member of our firm.  He joined the Firm in November 2019 and resides in Keswick, Va.  Max was originally licensed as a CPA in West Virginia as of July 2014.  In May 2016, he became licensed in Virginia.  Max completed his undergraduate and graduate academic studies at Marshall University.  In May 2011, he achieved his M.S. in Accountancy.

Max has worked in public accounting ever since the beginning of his professional career.  Early in his career, Max worked for Somerville & Company where he provided tax and audit services.  In 2015, he moved to Charlottesville and joined W.D. Sanders & Company where he focused on individual and business tax preparation and advanced accounting.

Outside of work, Max has served as President of the Thomas Jefferson Chapter of the Virginia Society of CPAs.  He also has a passion for the music business, food and adventures involving the great outdoors.

Michael H Kaelber

Michael H Kaelber is a Principal Member of our firm.  He resides in Charlottesville, Va.  In addition to being adept at preparing returns for individuals and business clients, Michael provides support for our clients more complex bookkeeping needs.

Mike began working with his father, part-time, in 2015.  After observing how the CPA Firm helped clients, Mike joined the firm on a full-time basis in 2017.

While working full-time, Mike is continuing to further his academic studies, on a part-time basis, towards preparing for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant exam.  In his spare time, he is an avid gamer.
